THE V12 Zagato

The Latest Icon from an Enduring Collaboration

A Famous Partnership

Fifty years of history, six unique examples of outstanding design. Since the production of the legendary DB4GT Zagato, Aston Martin and Zagato have created some of the most celebrated cars in existence, true automotive icons.

The V12 Zagato continues this exclusive collaboration and takes the unique design language of its predecessors to produce a car steeped in history and stunning in design.

DB4 GT Zagato

In 1960 the DB4GT Zagato was revealed, clothed in a stunningly beautiful and lightweight body from the Italian coachbuilder. Only 19 examples were produced and this rarity is reflected in their high value today. Four chassis numbers of the original series remained unused and in 1991, four “Sanction II” Zagatos, bodied in Italy were produced. With one of the 'Sanction II' examples selling for £1.23million in mid-2012, 'Sanction II' and the subsequent 'Sanction III' DB4GT Zagatos are highly collectible.

V8 Zagato

The 1985 Geneva Motor Show saw the announcement that Aston Martin and Zagato were collaborating again. The result was a contemporary tribute to the DB4GT Zagato, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato.

A total 89 examples of the car were made, 52 coupe and 37 volante, with the first production models unveiled to the public a year later at the 1986 Geneva Motor Show. Powered by a V8 engine packing 430bhp, the lightweight Zagato designed body made this one of the fastest, and most exclusive cars in the world.

DB7 Zagato

The 2002 Paris Motor Show saw a new Aston Martin Zagato, the DB7 Zagato. With 99 examples being produced the car retained many of the DB7's design features but saw the addition of a wider grille, distinctive rear haunches and the Zagato 'double-bubble' roof.

DB AR1

The DB7 Zagato was quickly followed in 2003 by the unveiling of the DB AR1 - a car designed and marketed specifically for the US market. Unique in the modern Aston Martin, DB AR1 was open top and didn't include any kind of roof. Whilst similar to the DB7 Zagato it was based on the longer DB7 Vantage Volante chassis. Production lasted through 2003 with 99 examples being produced.

V12 Vanquish Roadster

The most recent example of the Aston Martin, Zagato partnership saw the exclusive production of a concept, Roadster version of the V12 Vanquish. Featuring the round rear lights of the DB-AR1 but with a consistent front and side styling of the Vanquish coupe, this one car was produced for display at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show. A full production run was never scheduled and the car seen here remains unique as the only example in existence.

The V12 Zagato

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic DB4GT Zagato and eight years after the last collaboration, the time was right to open a new chapter in the Aston Martin Zagato relationship. Unveiled in concept form at the Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance, the V12 Zagato entered strictly limited production in 2012 with customer deliveries currently underway. Brutal yet elegant, the V12 Zagato will be limited to just 101 examples.
