Aston Martin is renowned for crafting luxury, high-performance vehicles, and its bespoke offerings from Q by Aston Martin division are no exception. Aston Martin designs and creates unique models for customers with a dream.
For the DBS 770 Singlestone project, the idea was conceived through the customer’s love of science and British heritage. The Singlestone pays homage to Aston Martins of the new millennia and their timeless, quintessential British designs. A seamless blend of innovation and tradition.
We explore how Aston Martin turned this customer’s dream into reality.
Enter the DBS 770 Singlestone.
What is Singlestone?
Project Singlestone is a one-of-a-kind project commissioned by a customer through Q by Aston Martin. A name derived from a captivating geometric pattern that is unique and never repeated, this carefully chosen name befits the bespoke nature of the custom-built DBS 770 Ultimate.
From the initial consultation in Q New York, the Aston Martin DBS 770 Singlestone moves from design to reality on the Gaydon factory floor. Inimitable style and finesse. Every chapter of Singlestone’s story was meticulously planned from concept to creation.

The Origins of Personalisation
The Singlestone in Q New York, Aston Martin's North American ultra-luxury flagship.
Here, the idea of the DBS 770 Singlestone was conceived. The world’s most bespoke DBS770 ever conceived. No other series production Aston Martin in existence has been tailored in this way. Visualised on the configurator, the DBS 770 is tailored to the customer with a unique vision in mind.

From Scintilla Silver exteriors to a one-off quilt interior, every detail is crafted with precision. Through Q Commission, the possibilities are limitless, thanks to the first-class designers, engineers, and craftspeople.
A complex interior quilt design inspired by quantum physics. A non-repeating aperiodic monotile. This special quilt was designed with the Q design team and named ‘Singlestone’.

Automotive Woven into British Heritage
From the initial design phase to the finishing leather detailing, Singlestone was curated to reflect the client's admiration for British culture and heritage.
This project drew inspiration from the Vanquish Volante, which was shown at Pebble Beach in 2014 and a special edition of the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, also known as the ‘On Her Majesty's Secret Service (OHMSS)’ Edition DBS. This was created to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the sixth James Bond film.

Although inspired by the original 1969 Aston Martin DBS, the OHMSS Edition had fierce power. A 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12, 715bhp engine, bespoke metal grille and unique diamond-turned and forged wheels. Showcasing commemorative side strakes, handcrafted luxury leather luggage sets and unique 007 touches throughout. The ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ Edition DBS helped to construct the vision of Singlestone, including its veined grille.
Making its global debut at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week in 2013, the Aston Martin Pebble Beach Vanquish Volante showcased a 6.0-litre V12 engine. A top speed of 180 mph reaching 62 mph in 4.5 seconds. The Pebble Beach Vanquish Volante inspired the Singlestone’s colour scheme. Scintilla Silver for the exterior and Centenary Saddle Tan for the interior.
A Marque of Distinction: The DBS 770 Ultimate
The Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate was chosen for the Singlestone project because it is the Ultimate version of the DBS and the last in its noble bloodline. Going even further and beyond the realms of possibilities. Creating the ‘ultimate’ Ultimate.
The Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate is the fastest and most powerful DBS in history. A top speed of 211 mph. Setting this model apart is the perfect blend of luxury and performance, reaching 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds. A rare breed, with fewer than 500 models made.
The DBS 770 features an iconic horseshoe bonnet with a front splitter. Alongside Carbon fibre seats, Honeycomb wheels and an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox, the DBS 770 also has an exquisite attention to detail with a centre armrest bound with a DBS 770 buckle badge.

Aerodynamics
The extended front splitter and horseshoe bonnet improve airflow and enhance cooling. Smooth and seamless control. Even at high speeds.

Engine performance
This super grand tourer has a twin-turbo 5.2-litre V12 engine. Bursting with raw power. 770PS. 900NM. Each rev of the engine thrums with energy. Entering the unknown.
The Singlestone is the last DBS 770 to come off the production line. And therefore, the last DBS. A touching tribute to an outstanding luxury model.

From Q New York to Gaydon
After hours of meticulous design commissioned by Q, the DBS 770 was ready to be brought to life in the Aston Martin Gaydon factory. Using the design and spec notes, the Gaydon team started to put the Singlestone puzzle together.
After 60 days of designing. 120 days of planning and developing. 21 days of building. The Singlestone design process was finished.
The Home of Luxury Automotives: The Aston Martin Gaydon Factory
Aston Martin’s state-of-the-art headquarters is located in Gaydon, Warwickshire where the latest technology is met with decades of expertise and craftsmanship. A bustling hub of innovation, creativity, and advanced engineering.
The manufacturing stage of the Singlestone project at Gaydon took three weeks. This included:
Developing new bespoke content for the car, CAD production testing, sourcing manufacturing with the supplier, fitting materials onto the car including the leather goods, and finishing and finessing final details.

Lead Engineer
Tom’s involvement in Project Singlestone involved taking design imagery and surface data from the Aston Martin Design Studio and turning them into functional 3D engineering models in CAD. Working with external suppliers to select the best material and manufacturing process for each part and JR Tusting to manually create patterns for all the handmade leather goods. All whilst inspecting all the bespoke content when delivered from suppliers and ensuring all the parts are correctly fitted on the production line.
The Most Exciting Q by Aston Martin Project to Date
Q Commission is a journey. For our most ambitious customers. 30 experts and multiple teams at Q were involved in the Singlestone project, across the dealership, the regional team, and Gaydon HQ.
Turning ideas into designs, the Q design team are skilled designers who visualised the customer’s concept and brought it to life. It was then handed over to Q’s engineering and development team who took the design team’s work to create the CAD, test the materials, and prepare for production. Finally, the AML Production Team turned plans into reality by physically assembled and created the masterpiece. Finishing off with Aston Martin Q where they expertly orchestrated the work of all the teams. Bringing the customer’s requirements to life in complete harmony.
