Two celebrations bring over a century of Aston Martin to life

2023 marked 110 years of Aston Martin. Two incredible events, Silverstone and Goodwood, brought together icons from every era.

Legends returned to the track.

Brand new masterpieces took the spotlight.

Together, they told one story - the past, present and future of Aston Martin.

THE PAST

London, 1913.
A small workshop in Henniker Mews. Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford joined forces – a partnership that would soon lead to something very special: the first Aston Martin.

By 1921, their third car - Chassis No. 3, better known as A3 – rolled out of their Abingdon Road base in Kensington. Driven by Lionel Martin himself, it broke light-car speed records and tore up Kop Hill and Brooklands.

Fast-forward to 1950. Silverstone hosted the first ever Formula One Grand Prix, and by then, Aston Martin was already a global name. The DB3S (1953) was raced by legends like Stirling Moss and Caroll Shelby, and a decade later, the DB5 took the world by storm – sleek, fast, forever immortalised as Bond’s car.

Over a century on from its humble beginnings, that same spirit lives on. Aston Martin has become a symbol of British luxury – an icon that still commands Goodwood’s legendary Hill Climb, reborn in 1993 as one of motorsport’s ultimate tests of skill.

THE PRESENT

Silverstone, 2023.
A world-first spectacle to mark Aston Martin’s 110th anniversary: 110 Aston Martins, one for every year, took to the track at the British Grand Prix.

From classics like the A3, DB3S and DB5, to modern-day marvels: two Aston Martin Valkyries leading the charge, joined by the new DB12 and the DBX707, the supercar of SUVs. A living timeline of power and design, cheered on by thousands.

The celebrations continued at Goodwood Festival of Speed, where seven extraordinary Aston Martins roared up the Hill Climb:
Aston Martin Valkyrie Coupe, Spider, AMR Pro - seen together for the first time
DB12 - the world’s first super tourer
DBS 770 Ultimate - the final and most powerful evolution of the DBS
V12 Vantage - fierce, fast, pure muscle
Vantage F1® Edition - the most track-focused Vantage yet

And then came Valour.

A showstopper in every sense – a bold fusion of 1970s and futuristic form, combining a 5.2-litre V12 engine with a bespoke six-speed manual transmission for the very first time in an Aston Martin. Only 110 built. A true collector’s masterpiece.

THE FUTURE

Back at Silverstone, the focus turned to what’s next.

The Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One® Team opened its state-of-the-art Technology Campus - a 400,000 sq. ft. hub built for the next generation of performance.

It marks a bold new chapter, bringing together everything Aston Martin has always stood for: beauty, design, luxury - now fused with an even sharper focus on power, precision and innovation.
