Human Rights Policy Statement
Our Human Rights Policy Statement defines Aston Martin’s human rights commitments and the standards we strive to meet. It is intended to give our workforce, suppliers, business partners and all other stakeholders direction on Aston Martin’s approach to human rights management and sets the expectations we have of all business partners in our wider value chain.
Human rights due diligence
To develop our approach to human rights due diligence (‘HRDD’), we are working with a specialist human rights consultancy. We conducted a maturity assessment against core elements of human rights due diligence such as the UNGPs and OECD Guidelines. The insights helped us identify opportunities for improvement including the development of a HRDD governance framework and specific training programs focused on the implementation of HRDD in key departments to build capacity internally.
Governance framework
To coordinate the conduct of HRDD across the business, the approach is codified in a Terms of Reference document for the Board Sustainability Committee ensuring that the Board has oversight of human rights compliance and progress against the Company's human rights strategy. The Chief People Officer has executive responsibility for the Company’s human rights performance. A Human Rights Steering Group comprised of key functions across the company including human resources, supply chain and the legal department, is accountable for ensuring the implementation of the human rights strategy. Regular updates on human rights actions and risks are reported to the Executive Committee and Board Sustainability Committee.
Capacity building
We are providing targeted capacity building programmes for our Procurement and Partnerships teams focused on building effective human rights risk management with our partners and supply chain. This involves developing an understanding of human rights issues, being able to identify, assess and prioritise issues and the ability to plan actions and track effectiveness.
Modern Slavery Act Statement
Aston Martin rejects the use of all forms of forced or compulsory labour, modern slavery and child labour in our business. We also strive to take action to prevent people trafficking leading to those forms of labour. We annually publish a Modern Slavery Statement in accordance with the UK Modern Slavery Act.
Operational policies and processes
Our human rights policies align with our Code of Conduct and we include human rights policies and processes as part of our Responsible Procurement Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Environmental and Energy Policy Statement and Confidential Reporting Policy.
