Our commitment

We are committed to factoring sustainability into the vehicle design process and collaborating with partners to support our pursuit of innovation.

Our goal

Our goal is to make circularity integral to our vehicle design process and wider design.

Taking action

Sustainable materials

Sustainability is a key focus for our design teams. We review our products against high standards of quality and durability as well as key sustainability attributes such as recyclability, supply chain traceability, carbon and wider environmental impacts.

For example, all wood used in our vehicle models is Forest Stewardship Council (‘FSC’) certified, which confirms that the wood comes from forests that are managed to preserve biodiversity and uphold forest management principles that benefit the lives of local people and workers.

Life cycle assessment

We have started using a product-focused life cycle assessment (‘LCA’) to allow us to identify hotspots in material use, and analyse how impacts can change, enabling strengthened engagement with our supply chain. We have implemented a pilot LCA on the Vantage to develop our approach. The scoping LCA is helping us understand how we can further improve our processes and support our actions to embed sustainability further into our vehicles.

Partnering for innovation

Pioneering innovation is often driven by collaboration and partnerships.

In 2023, the Company was awarded government funding for Project ELEVATION, a six-partner collaborative research and development project led by Aston Martin. The project addresses the technical challenges of developing lightweight electrified vehicles with a bandwidth from supercar to SUV.

In 2024, we joined with several partners to secure a £6m, government funded innovation project supporting the development of lightweight, sustainable aluminium castings for our vehicles.

Vehicle conservation, restoration and repair

We are dedicated to the highest levels of quality and craftmanship over the entire life of our cars, supporting an exceptional level of longevity. We estimate that 95% of all cars ever constructed by Aston Martin are either still on the road, or capable of being so.

Aston Martin Works, which includes the heritage arm of the business, is a world-renowned centre of excellence for the preservation, restoration, repair and maintenance of Aston Martin and Lagonda models of any era. Enabled by our team of highly skilled craftspeople, the company has a dedication and determination to ensuring as many of our cars as possible remain on the road.

End-of-life vehicles

We comply with the EU’s End-of-life Vehicles (‘ELVs’) Directive with more than 85% of our vehicle content across all models being recyclable at the end of its life. Our scoping LCA will also support a better understanding of the end-of-life impact of our vehicles.
