EV readiness

Our in-house electrification training programme continues to expand, as we develop knowledge courses for our transformation including battery assembly, high voltage battery analysis, diagnosis and repair, lithium battery storage, handling and disposal, and hazard management. Training is delivered at our Gaydon Electrification Centre of Excellence through trainer-led practical sessions, supported by virtual-reality (VR) and augmented-reality (AR) technologies.

We have a strong relationship with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and are certified to deliver EV Level 2 and 3 courses, as well as gaining approval to deliver the international standard for the same courses, supporting our electrification journey by working with the Aston Martin dealer network globally.

We work with external partners such as the Electrification Skills Network to help ensure nationally-led EV skills are developed and validated through Aston Martin’s support of the Auto Skills Council and we have committed funding to the EV skills platform, nationally developing cross industry training between major UK Original Equipment Manufacturers (‘OEMs’).

Early careers

Our early careers scheme offers two pathways: technical and professional. Those on the technical route work within Product Development and rotate through areas such as Engineering, Manufacturing, and Design. Participants on the professional pathway gain broad exposure to key business functions, developing a well-rounded skillset through rotations in Commercial Operations, Finance, HR, IT, Procurement, Quality, and Marcomms.  Graduates follow a two-year programme while our four-year apprenticeship programme blends classroom and online learning with mentorship and hands-on experience. Apprentices receive training at local higher-education institutions, with the option to specialise in vocational skills such as paintwork or leather trimming.

STEM

Inspiring young people about the exciting possibilities offered by a career in automotive manufacturing, and promoting STEM subjects, is an important part of making sure that Aston Martin can access talent that is the bedrock of our future success. We engage students across different stages of their education, from primary school to university and have long-standing partnerships with local schools and colleges located around our major facilities. At the WMG Academy in Coventry, Aston Martin is part of the syllabus and every year the Company’s apprentices and other employees visit the Academy to help educate students about automotive manufacturing and engineering
