S3 works with builder Upstate Modernist to create distinctly unique modern residences and residential developments in the Hudson Valley. Blending a distinctly modernist aesthetic with natural materials, warm textures and traditional forms, the S3 & Upstate Modernist collection of homes offer a re-imagined modern lifestyle. Each property starts with a preservation-focused plan maintaining natural spaces, sight lines and solar orientation. Every home is unique and site specific, designed to respond to the natural characteristics of the land on which it sits. S3 employs a sustainable design approach, utilising renewable materials and energy-efficient systems in construction.
The namesake rock ledge upon which the residence is sited reveals itself upon approach to the private residence, the architectural form of the private residence responding to the dramatic lines of the rock. As you move around the private residence, the form appears to fold down into the landscape – as if the architecture is born of and catapults from the natural landscape. A distinctly modern yet natural form, the private residence is clad in blackened cedar and curtain walls of glazing.
In companion to the outdoor area, there is a luxury pool and modern pool house with a surrounding deck, heated UV filtered pool and stunning natural views mirroring the architecture of the private residence.
With innovative materials including mass timber beams, cross laminated roof panels and energy efficient glazing. The private residence is designed for maximum integration with the natural environment providing one of a kind views into the private park-like wooded property and views of the Catskills Mountains.
